The perfect at home jewellery cleaning solution for your Sterling Silver, Plated Gold, Solid Gold and Platinum pieces.
The magic of our luxury metals is that with the correct maintenance and care they will retain their lustre for years. With plated jewellery the plating is a thin coating of gold over our Sterling Silver that will naturally wear off with time.
Please read instructions and precaution on the label carefully prior to use.
Every Famke piece is handmade and one of a kind, crafted just for you or someone special.
Delivery is on us when you spend R2000 or more.
Please allow for a 10-14 working days manufacturing lead time for silver and Yellow Gold Vermeil and 14-20 working days for 9ct Gold, this does not include shipping time.
In the case of your Silver jewellery tarnishing or becoming dirty, simply clean it with a soft cloth and a metal cleaning agent such as Silvo / Brasso, a generic jewellery cleaner, or simply hot water, a sponge and soap. If you are in Cape Town, please feel free to drop it off at our shop for cleaning.
To avoid necklaces and chains developing a dull appearance, try keeping them away from body lotions and perfumes.
To increase the longevity of your gold-plated piece, it should be removed when exercising, swimming, and showering.
While plating may naturally wear over time, the core of each piece remains crafted from durable, high quality 925 sterling silver. For your convenience, we offer replating for R50 and revermeil for R200 on all pieces.

Our materials
We use precious metals like Sterling Silver and 9ct Solid Gold. These materials are hypoallergenic, timeless and easy to refresh with the right care!
When it comes to silver and plated jewellery, tarnishing is natural and it does not mean your piece is damaged, and the Famke Jewellery Cleaner is specially formulated to gently remove the black build-up that can appear over time, restoring your jewellery's original shine.
Please Note: the Jewellery Cleaner does not restore plating that has faded.
Let’s talk tarnishing
Tarnish is a natural process that affects most metals, even fine ones! It can show up as everyday dullness, or as green and black marks on the surface.
Factors like humidity, skincare products, salt in the air or even your skin’s pH can all speed it up.
The good news? Tarnish is reversible with gentle care, and our Jewellery Cleaner makes it easy to restore your pieces.
Understanding gold plating
With plated jewellery, a thin layer of gold is applied over sterling silver. Over time, this layer will naturally begin to wear - especially with regular wear, exposure to water, friction or skincare products. This is a normal part of owning plated jewellery, and not a fault.
Our Jewellery Cleaner is designed to gently remove build-up and maintain the shine of your piece, but it won’t restore worn-off plating.
To prolong the life of your plated jewellery, we recommend removing it before showering, swimming or applying products.
What to do when plating fades?
We’re here to help you keep your jewellery looking its best!
Each Famke piece is made to be worn and loved - but with time, even the most well-cared for items need a little maintenance!
If your plated piece has started to fade, we offer affordable replating services from just R50. Simply pop us a mail or bring it into the shop, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Can I use cleaner on costume jewellery or stainless steel?
No. This cleaner is formulated for precious metals only like Sterling Silver, Gold Plated Silver, Solid Gold, and Platinum.
Can I use the cleaner on stones?
The cleaner can be used on diamonds and moissanite! However, we recommend using a soft cloth for gemstone pieces. Do not submerge porous or delicate stones such as opals, pearls or emeralds.

How to care your jewellery?
STORE THOUGHTFULLY
Keep your jewellery in a soft pouch or lined box. Airtight containers or ziplock bags help protect silver tarnishing.
AVOID MOISTURE
Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering or exercising.
LAST ON, FIRST OFF
Apply lotions, perfumes, and hairspray before putting on your jewellery.
